Bed Chant video description by Sky Oestreicher

An intimate exploration of bed as landscape and a body inhabiting it. As the piece is read aloud, the camera flows over peaks and valleys of crumpled sheets the colour of sandy earth, and into the dark caverns of a bunched-up, deep ocean-blue blanket. Midway through the piece, the camera shifts angles and reveals a white body enveloped in this landscape. The images switch between a birds eye view, where we witness the body moving and breathing slowly, and an extreme close-up view of a blue-grey sky coloured pillow with part of a face and neck in the frame. As the chant is said aloud, the person’s lips move silently. It is as if they are calling forth the words before they are spoken.
